Tamarind Drink Recipe: How it helped me shrink my Breast Nodules


Hi Beauties!! I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer back in February 2019. In October 2019 I was able to heal myself from it and was tested free from Cancer. 

As of now, I am still on my journey to really understanding my body and trying to live my life with habits as close to nature as possible. 

So I constantly ask myself, "What is my body designed to do?" This question helps me navigate any altered physical signs in my body I may have or getting and really get to the root of it with my diet first. 

I understood that Thyroid Cancer was a sign that my body was Estrogen Dominant. I now also have come to realize I am not alone. 

Most of us with ought realizing are ESTROGEN DOMINANT. 

I will explain briefly what it is: 

Estrogen is known as the “female” hormone. Too much of it can effect and create havoc in our bodies and health.

Estrogen dominance occurs when your estrogen levels are too high relative to progesterone.

Normally your liver packages up any excess estrogen and excretes it through your bowels. But if you’re dealing with poor detoxification, gut imbalances, chronic stress, or exposure to endocrine-disrupting toxins, your levels can become too high. 

This imbalance can lead to symptoms such as:

  • Weight gain in the waist, hips, and thighs
  • Fatigue
  • Increased PMS symptoms
  • Heavy or irregular periods
  • Low libido
  • Mood swings, anxiety, and depression
  • Hair loss
  • Ovarian cysts
  • Fibrocystic breasts
  • Cold hands and feet

(Just to name a few)

With that being said, I have compiled ANCESTRAL SUPERFOODS that have been used and given to me by my grandparents and started applying back into my diet. 

When I discovered I had a nodule on my breast, I opted to receive a Thermography and an Ultrasound instead of the conventional mammogram (Agent Nateur  has an article that can help you explain what the differences are). 

I then made a list of foods that I knew about that had enzymatic properties that will breakdown fibrosis, puss, inflammation, and help detoxify thru gut this mass of nodule on my breast. 

The one drink that I have always gravitated to, was AGUA DE TAMARINDO (Tamarind Water/Juice).

A tropical fruit native to Africa, the sweet tamarind comes from the evergreen tamarind tree, scientifically known as Tamarindus indica L. from the Fabaceae family of plants.

Intuitively, I knew this was a SUPERFOOD. So I started taking it and added it to my new protocol. 

I remember that my doctor had me check my blood daily for insulin levels, to make sure they were low enough so my body was able to fight the cancer. This was after I had a cancerous tumor removed, that had started initially as a nodule.

You can think of insulin as a growth hormone because one of its main functions is to push to make its target grow. 

So the higher your insulin level is, the more insulin resistance that you have, the more likely your body could produce thyroid nodule or breasts nodules. 

Insulin resistance is when cells in your muscles, fat, and liver, don’t respond well to insulin and can’t use glucose from your blood for energy. To make up for it, your pancreas makes more insulin. Over time, your blood sugar levels go up.

The alpha-amylase contained in Tamarind stops your body in absorbing carbohydrates, thus reducing the amount of stored sugar and fat within your body and keeping them in check, thus reducing your insulin levels. 


Tamarind fruit extract is able to stabilize insulin levels in your body, as well as repairing the damage to the pancreatic tissue that was commonly found in people with diabetes. As we all know, carbohydrate (refined) is the main source of glucose that is usually converted and stored by your body into fat and sugar.

Tamarind has been used as a traditional laxative since ancient times due to its high amount of tartaric acid and dietary fiber content.

As Tamarind also stimulates the bile activity inside your body, it will help your body in dissolving and digesting all of your consumed foods faster than normal and excess estrogen will exit your body via your bowel movements. If you’re not having regular bowels movements, the estrogen can be reabsorbed back into your body; ergo growing your nodules.

That is why most people in Mexico with severe constipation have been using it as a natural remedy to ease their suffering. The fruit is also contains an abundance of tannins, mucilage, and pectin, which are dietary fibers thats is known to prevent constipation.

Here is a recipe of the Tamarind Juice that I make to drink everyday, when I feel like drinking it. Since it does make me bloat a little sometimes to help my body collect all the bile for exit. So I intuitively play it by ear and normally drink it after a meal. Not before. Sometimes  it will make you want to go right away, but for the most part, when I give this drink to people, they don't feel like they have to go right away. 

Together with MYOMIN, and Pineapple, I have seen my nodule shrink to almost nothing and had to share it with you guys!!


Tamarind Pods



  • 15 dry tamarind pods peeled
  • 6 cups water
  • ¼ cup brown sugar for it’s richer taste or opt for Organic Maple Syrup (has a lower glycemic index)

I get my Tamarind Pods at Gonzalez Market (which is family owned and from the same town my father was born in; Jalostotitlan, Jalisco). Other markets might have the Tamarind already peeled and seeds removed, with those I just add the paste in water in a glass jar and leave in refrigerator for a day, then proceed with step 4. 

1. The first step is peeling the tamarind pods. Remove as much of the hard shell as possible. Don’t worry if you can’t get all of the shell off. The remaining bits will come off when boiled.


2. Add 3 cups of water to a medium-size pot and bring the water to a boil. Add the peeled tamarinds and reduce the heat to medium and cook for 10 minutes.

3. Once the tamarinds have cooled, you need to remove the sticky paste from the beans. Reserve the paste and discard the beans. This step is a bit tedious but it is important to get as most of the tamarind paste as possible. Much of the flavor comes from the paste. 

4. Make sure that all the seeds are out of paste before putting tamarind paste to your blender.

5. Then add the soaking water and the brown sugar and blend for 1 minute.

6. Strain the blended liquid into a ½ gallon pitcher and add 3 cups of water and give it a good stir.

7. Serve in a tall glass over lots of ice. You can add a squirt of lime juice to each glass if you’d like. I usually serve mine without the lime. I prefer and love the pure taste of the tamarind. Also it can be too acidic to the stomach.

    • Add more sugar if your tamarind water is too tart for your taste. This recipe is on the tart side.
    • Adding ¼ teaspoon of salt in the pitcher will bring out the tamarind flavor even more.
    • All the quantities in this recipe are approximate and can be tweaked to taste. Add more water if you like a less concentrated beverage, use less sugar if you want more tartness, etc.
    • Even the most well-strained tamarind water tends to have solids settle at the bottom of the pitcher, so always stir before serving. 
    • Garnish with Mint for a Refreshing Taste
